Browns fall to Saints, 35-14

On Sunday November 17th the 2-7 Cleveland Browns traveled to New Orleans Louisiana to play the 3-7 Saints at the Caesars Superdome. The Browns were coming off their bye week. The Saints had a 20-17-week 10 win over the Atlanta Falcons. This has been a season of disappointment for the Cleveland Browns and their fans. This game was another addition to that disappointment.

The Cleveland Browns offense in this game was a bright spot. Jameis Winston had his best game as a Cleveland Browns quarterback. He went 30 for 46, for 395 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, for a quarterback rating of 106.7.  Nick Chubb started to show up like his old self in this game. He had 11 rushes, for 50 yards, with a 4.5 yards per rush average. The Cleveland Browns offense had 443 yards of offense and 0 turnovers. It was the Cleveland Browns defense that had the let down in this loss.

In the 4th quarter, the score was tied 14-14.  Taysom Hill had a 33-yard, and a 75-yard touchdown runs in the 4th quarter. The third Saints touchdown was setup by a big punt return that was thought to be a touchdown, but Saints returner Dante Pettis was ruled to have stepped out of bounds at the 35-yard line. That set up a short field for the Saints offense and 1 yard Derek Carr touchdown pass to Juwan Johnson. The Browns defense gave up 4 touchdowns plays for more than 30 yards. And the Saints blew out the Browns, 35-14. Regardless of that, this team has a short week to try to bounce back from this loss.

On Thursday November 21st the 2-8 Cleveland Browns will host the 8-2 Pittsburgh Steelers for Thursday Night Football at Huntington Bank Field. Rumblings have started for Browns head coach Kevin Stefanksi being on the hot seat for this game.  That might be a good thing because it is supposed to be a cold night on that lakefront Thursday.
