BREAKING! Carson Beck Transfers to New School

It’s official. 24 hours after Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck entered the transfer portal, it didn’t take long for Beck to land at a new home. Beck will move from the SEC to follow in Cam Ward’s footsteps and be the quarterback of the Miami Hurricanes.

Originally, Beck had declared for the NFL Draft on December 28th. Assuming he didn’t like his draft position, he opted to return to college football for one more year.

Beck’s decision comes with the knowledge he couldn’t throw until March at the earliest, which could hurt his draft stock.

Beck suffered a season-ending elbow injury in the SEC Championship Game against the Texas Longhorns and Gunner Stockton, the redshirt sophomore, has taken over for Beck. Georgia’s season ended in Stockton’s first start, a 23-10 loss to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. Stockton threw for 234 yards and a touchdown in the College Football Playoff.

As for Carson Beck, he replaces Heisman candidate Cam Ward who transferred from Washington State and put up 4,313 passing yards, 39 touchdowns, only 7 interceptions, and completed 67.2% of his passes. Ward’s stock has risen to a top draft pick in this year’s NFL Draft, and Carson Beck must be hoping for the same fortunes going down to The U.

This year for Georgia, Beck had 3,485 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and a 64.7% completion percentage. Unfortunately, you could say this season showed regression for Carson Beck when it comes to stats. While just having 4 more touchdowns, he also had 6 more interceptions, almost 500 less yards on 31 more attempts, and his completion percentage dropped nearly 8%.

Beck looks to capitalize on his new team, come back from his injury, and solidify himself as a top-ten draft pick like Cam Ward will be this year.

Meanwhile, as it stands right now, it appears Gunner Stockton will fully take over as the Georgia Bulldogs starting quarterback. With a full offseason under his belt, we can see him tap into the potential Bulldog fans aspire for him to do.

We are in a new era with the transfer portal seeing established stars transfer to elevate their draft stock, and Carson Beck is no different. What are your thoughts on Beck’s transfer to Miami? Will he have more success than Cam Ward and be a Heisman candidate this year? Will Gunner Stockton have a better year than Carson Beck? Let us know in our comment section below.
