Break Out the Bubbly: Mariah May Retains AEW Women’s Title
Ever since she won the AEW women’s title from Toni Storm, Mariah May has longed to have a “champagne celebration” with her friend, Mina Shirakawa.
That will finally happen this Saturday at the Full Gear pay-per-view.
May retained the belt in a no-disqualification match with Anna Jay on last night’s Collision from Albany, N.Y.
The challenger suplexed May off the top rope onto a piece of steel guardrail that was in the ring. May somehow rallied to hit the Storm Zero piledriver on a chair to defeat Jay.
Mina congratulated May after the match. She also opened the show by defeating Harley Cameron with the Glamorous Driver.
THE WRONG KIDNAP VICTIM
Daniel Garcia defeated Johnny TV (formerly John Morrison in WWE) with the Cobra Clutch. Jack Perry kidnapped Garcia’s friend, “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard from the commentary desk during the match.
Garcia rescued Menard in the parking lot, and they chained Perry to his own “Scapegoat Bus.”
100 WINS
Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Bulk Bronson of the Iron Savages with the Human Torture Rack. Hobbs recorded his 100th win in AEW.
Shelton Benjamin defeated Komander with an exploder suplex. After the match, Hurt Syndicate leader MVP attacked Komander’s hype man, Alex Abrahantes. Well, they were in the MVP Arena!
The Acclaimed defeated La Faccion Ingobernable (The Beast Mortos & Rush). The teams had legends Billy Gunn and Jake “The Snake” Roberts in their respective corners.
The win for the Acclaimed puts them in the Full Gear four-way match against The Outunners, The House of Black, and AEW tag team champions Private Party.
The show ended with AEW World champion Jon Moxley hyping Wednesday’s match on Dynamite between Orange Cassidy and Wheeler Yuta.
Then, AEW aired a Full Gear hype video set to the song “November Rain,” just like ECW used to do. I’m sure Guns N’ Roses appreciated getting paid this time!
