Blood and Guts Match Returning to AEW Dynamite

AEW’s signature “War Games”-style match will return on June 26 on Dynamite.

On last night’s episode, The Elite announced their participation in the double-steel cage “Blood and Guts” match and tried to recruit AEW World champion Swerve Strickland as their partner. Swerve will probably end up captaining the other team.

Swerve has his hands full with Will Ospreay, who will challenge him for the title at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 30. Ospreay beat Rey Fenix last night in the Dynamite main event to retain the International title.

Speaking of Briscoe, the Ring Of Honor champion was pinned in a six-man tag team match. Kyle Fletcher hit a piledriver for the win, as Fletcher, Takeshita, and Roderick Strong beat Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, and Kyle O’Reilly. Fletcher is already the ROH television champion, and he may he in line for a shot at Briscoe’s belt.

Samoa Joe & Hook made quick work of the Premier Athletes (Tony Nese & Josh Woods). They could challenge for the trios title soon with Katsuyori Shibata as their partner.

Rush scored a quick win over local wrestler Deonn Rusman before brawling with MJF. That should be a show-stealing match at Forbidden Door. Daniel Garcia defeated Nick Comorato with a leaping DDT.

GOLD MERCEDES

Mercedes Mone retained her TBS title with a win over Zeuxis from Mexico’s CMLL promotion. That means Mone’s match with Stephanie Vaquer at Forbidden Door will be for the TBS and New Japan Strong women’s titles.

Jack Perry qualified for the TNT Championship Ladder match at Forbidden Door with a win over Dustin Rhodes. The former “Jungle Boy” joins Konosuke Takeshita and Mark Briscoe in the six-way match.

The next qualifying match will take place on Saturday’s Collision show in Youngstown, Ohio, with Lee Moriarty taking on Dante Martin.
