Bills 3-Game Win Streak Broken In Baltimore
The Buffalo Bills were on the road Sunday night as they travelled to M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore to play the 2-1 Ravens. Last year’s MVP Lamar Jackson has a had a less than ideal but started to come back in form last week as he led his team to a thrilling win over the Cowboys. Lamar would have to continue his surge of dominance as they played against the 3-0 Bills who dominated their opponents 78-20 in their last 2 games combined. The Bills were looking to go 4-0 for the first time since 2021 and would try to start the game continuing there dominance as they started with the ball first.
In the first play the Bills were moving the ball and were stopped on 4th but decided too go for it and covered it however the defense stayed strong and held them to a 4th and 2 where this time Buffalo decided to punt and throw away all the momentum. The would be a costly call as on the first play that the Ravens had the ball Lamar handed it off the Derrick Henry who had good protection from his offensive line and after running to the right torched the Bills defenders Cam Lewis, and Rasul Douglas and was in a foot race with them and just never let off the gas as he made it all the way to the Bills end zone scoring his longest touchdown of the season with a 87 yard first drive touchdown opening the scoring to make it 7-0 Ravens and make the stadium even more electric than it already was. On the next drive the Bills were looking to get back into it but the defense continued to pull up stops as the Bills had to settle for a 50 yard Tyler Bass field goal with 4:38 left in the first quarter to make it 7-3 Ravens. With that play it was the last bit of scoring of the first quarter as The Ravens led up a drive all the way to the Buffalo’s red zone but the quarter ended before they could convert it.
In the second quarter The Ravens continued here they left off as on the first play of the second quarter Lamar threw a short pass to Derrick Henry who was wide open for the 5 yard touchdown making him score on both a rushing and passing touchdown making the score 14-3 Ravens. Back on offence for the Bills Josh Allen was looking to get back into rhythm but were forced to punt again on 4th and 2. With the defense looking to keep the Bills in this one, it was just not there night as on offence the Ravens continued to dominate the Bills defenders as they led another strong drive to the 19 yard line on 2nd and 7 where Lamar Jackson found Justice Hill who torched Dorian Williams on the route and found that perfectly placed ball by Jackson and made the game 21-3 Ravens. Back on offence the Bills continued to struggle as they were forced to punt and back on defense the Bills only goal was to not get scored on again and despite Lamar leading another strong looking drive on 1st and 20 with 2:34 left in the second quarter Lamar tried to do things himself from the far position and took off and ran but was stripped by Dorian Williams who got a hand to the ball and forced a fumble where The Bills defense came up with it which was huge to make up for the play where he missed his assignment on Hill. With the stop from the Bills defense they hoped to get back in it offence. However, it was the same story as Allen missed Shakir on 3rd and 2 and had a penalty on the play to make it 3rd and 10 and missed his throw and had to punt it again making it 21-3 Ravens going into the half.
To start off the 3rd quarter The Ravens had the ball but the Bills defense held up and forced the punt. On offence the Bills are looking to make something happen as they were having an unproductive night on offence to that point. That is where Allen stepped up as on 3rd and 5 with all the pressure on him he made an incredible throw to find a wide open Khalil Shakir on what was the Bills best play to that point. Shakir was tackled close to the goal but in the same drive on first and goal Allen handed the ball off to Ty Johnson who rushed it in for a 3 yard touchdown making him score in back to back games for his second touchdown of the season and making the score look way more closer as it was 21-10 Ravens. However, The Ravens wanted to put any potential of the Bills coming back out of reach as last week they almost let the Cowboys back in it so on their offensive drive Lamer led a 8 minute drive to Bills red zone where on first and goal with 2:50 left in the 3rd he took off again and got a great block by his tight end Isiah Likely as he ran it himself for a rushing touchdown. Making the score 28-10 Ravens. The Bills on offence led a drive all the way to the 48 yard line and would have to attempt a field goal to start off the 4th as the time in the quarter expired.
Tyler Bass stepped up in the 4th quarter to attempt the 48 yard field goal but shanked it to left to keep the score the same 28-10 and making the Ravens have great field position. Back on offence the Ravens continued where they left off as Lamar led a 3 minute drive to the Bills red zone where it was Derrick Henry again who led the Ravens was handed the Ball but on the goal line fumbled it but Ricard for the Ravens fell on top of it and it was still given to Derrick Henry in the score sheet who had his 3rd score of the game 2 rushing and 1 receiving touchdown making it an absurd night for him and making the game out of reach as it was 35-10 Ravens. Then Josh Allen went out for one more play but was stopped and forced to punt being a big time storyline in this game for the Bills and ultimately ending his night as Mitch Tribusky and the backups would take over after with 5 minutes left. Both teams had drives but had nothing amount out of them as the score ended 35-10 Ravens.
This time it was the Bills who got dominated on the road by Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry who ran all over the Bills breaking their 3 game win streak. With this result both teams improved to 3-1 with The Bills getting their first loss of the 2024 season. However, with the loss they are still at the top of the AFC East as they hope to bounce back next week on Sunday when they take off the 3-1 Houston Texans on the road in Houston.
