Around the NFC West: Week 2

The Seattle Seahawks improved to 2-0 on the season with their 23-20 overtime win over the New England Patriots. Geno Smith had a huge game throwing for 327 yards and a touchdown. DK Metcalf had 10 catches for 129 yards and a touchdown. Second-year receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba had 12 catches for 117 yards on a day where Seattle could not do much of anything on the ground. The Seahawks take on the Miami Dolphins in week three.

Marvin Harrison Jr. showed why the Arizona Cardinals spent the fourth pick on him in the 2024 NFL Draft on Sunday. He caught four passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns in the Cardinals’ 41-10 beatdown of the Los Angeles Rams. Kyler Murray had another really good day throwing for 266 yards and three touchdowns. It was a balanced attack for the Cardinals in this one with James Conner adding 122 yards on the ground and a touchdown. The Arizona defense also sacked Matthew Stafford five times in the contest. Stafford and the Rams’ offense just could not get anything going in this one. They only managed 53 yards on the ground on 53 carries. Stafford did throw for 216 yards, but they were mostly empty yards as the Rams were down 24-3 at halftime. The Rams also lost Cooper Kupp to an ankle injury in this one. The Cardinals play the Detroit Lions on Sunday while the Rams take on the San Francisco 49ers.

Speaking of the 49ers, they lost 23-17 to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The passing game was really good for the 49ers in the loss. Brock Purdy threw for 316 yards. Deebo Samuel had eight catches for 110 yards but was lost to an injury. George Kittle added seven catches for 76 yards. Jordan Mason also had his second straight 100-yard rushing game, but it was not enough to come out of Minnesota with a win.
