Around the NFC South: Week 5
The Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers played one of the most exciting games of the year in week five on Thursday Night Football. The Falcons came away with a 36-30 overtime win. Kirk Cousins had a monster game throwing for 509 yards with four touchdowns and an interception. Drake London is really making a second-year jump in Atlanta. He had 12 catches for 154 yards and a touchdown in the win. For the Buccaneers, Chris Godwin and Mike Evans combined for 10 catches for 126 yards and two touchdowns – both by Evans. The Falcons play the Carolina Panthers in week six while the Buccaneers play the New Orleans Saints.
Speaking of the Saints, they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 26-13 on Monday Night Football. The Saints struggled to get anything going on offense. They ran for just 46 yards in the loss. Derek Carr had 165 yards passing with two touchdowns and an interception before leaving the game with an injury late in the fourth quarter.
Andy Dalton was not able to rejuvenate the Carolina Panthers offense on Sunday when they lost 36-10 to the Chicago Bears. Dalton threw for 136 yards and an interception before being replaced by Bryce Young late in the game. Chuba Hubbard had a really good game with 97 rushing yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Carolina was just unable to stick with the run after being torched by Caleb Williams.
