Around the NFC South: Week 3
The New Orleans Saints dropped their first game of the season 15-12 to the Philadelphia Eagles. Alvin Kamara had another really strong game with 127 yards of total offense but was not able to find the end zone. Chris Olave had his best game of the young season with six catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. That touchdown was the only one that Derek Carr threw in the game. The Saints will look to get back on track when they travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons on Sunday.
Speaking of the Atlanta Falcons, they lost 22-17 to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. Kirk Cousins was pretty good in this one throwing for 230 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Drake London caught that touchdown as one of his six catches for 67 yards. The Chiefs pretty much took Bijan Robinson out of this game. He had just 52 yards of total offense and did not find the end zone. They will try to get things back on track in a big division game in week four.
In one of the more surprising results of week four, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost 26-7 to the Denver Broncos. On paper, it looked like an easy spot for the Buccaneers to get to 3-0. Chris Godwin showed up for the Tampa offense with six catches for 53 yards and a touchdown. Bucky Iriving led the Bucs’ running backs in carries with nine. He gained 70 yards on those carries. Is he taking over as the RB1? We will get a better answer to that question when the Buccaneers play the Philadelphia Eagles in week four.
The switch from Bryce Young to Andy Dalton paid off for the Carolina Panthers. They beat the Las Vegas Raiders 36-22 behind 319 yards and three touchdowns from Dalton. Diontae Johnson had his first big game for the Panthers with eight catches for 122 yards and a touchdown. Chuba Hubbard also had a big game with 114 yards rushing and 55 yards receiving. Maybe Young really was the problem in Carolina. The Panthers host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
