Around the NFC South: Week 2

Are the New Orleans Saints for real? They have scored 91 points through the first two weeks of the season. They beat the Dallas Cowboys 44-19 on Sunday. Alvin Kamara scored four total touchdowns and had 180 total yards of offense. Rashid Shaheed scored a long touchdown for the second straight week. This time it was a 70-yard bomb from Carr. The Saints’ defense held the Cowboys to just 68 yards on the ground on 21 carries. They host the Philadelphia Eagles in week three.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers also improved to 2-0 on the young season with their 20-16 win over the Detroit Lions. Chris Godwin caught seven passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in the win. Baker Mayfield continues to play well throwing for 185 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The Buccaneers defense picked Jared Goff off twice. The Buccaneers play the hapless Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Prime time Kirk Cousins was nowhere to be found on Monday night. Instead, Cousins led the Atlanta Falcons on a six-play 70-yard touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter to give his team a 22-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Cousins was 20 of 29 for 241 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Bijan Robinson pitched in 122 total yards on the night. Atlanta will look to continue their winning ways against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football in week three.

What is there to say about the Carolina Panthers? They lost 26-3 to the Los Angeles Chargers. It was announced on Monday that they are benching 2023 number one overall pick Bryce Young in favor of Andy Dalton. Young has been bad, but that feels like an insane decision after just two games with the new coaching staff especially considering all they gave up to get him. That will go down as one of the worst trades in NFL history. The Panthers and the Red Rifle head to Las Vegas to play the Raiders on Sunday.
