Around the NFC South: Week 15

It was a fourth-straight win for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 40-17 over the Los Angeles Chargers. Mike Evans is quietly having a Hall of Fame career. He had nine catches for 159 yards and two touchdowns. Baker Mayfield threw for 288 yards with four touchdowns and an interception. Bucky Irving chipped in 117 yards on 15 carries in the win. The Buccaneers travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys on Monday Night Football this week.

The Atlanta Falcons ended their four-game losing streak 15-9 over the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night. Bijan Robinson carried the offense with 22 carries for 125 yards. Kirk Cousins struggled throwing for just 112 yards with one touchdown and one interception. His struggles over the last month prompted the Falcons to announce they are benching Cousins in favor of rookie Michael Penix Jr. He will make his first career NFL start against the New York Giants in week 16.

It’s been a tough year for the New Orleans Saints. They lost 20-19 to the Washington Commanders on Sunday. Jake Haener got the start at quarterback for the Saints. He went four of ten for 49 yards and an interception before being replaced by Spencer Rattler. To his credit, Rattler played better throwing for 135 yards and a touchdown. Rattler had New Orleans in a position to win the game but a potential game-winning two-point conversion was dropped. The Saints play the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football this week.

The Carolina Panthers were favored in a game for the first time in over two years but lost 30-14 to the Dallas Cowboys. Bryce Youn threw for 219 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. It was a big day for rookie wide receiver Jalen Coker who caught four passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. The Panthers face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
