Around the NFC North: Week 3
Sam Darnold has been nothing short of fantastic in his short tenure with the Minnesota Vikings. He threw four touchdowns in the Vikings’ 34-7 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday. Justin Jefferson was his favorite target catching six passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Jones had another strong outing with 102 yards on 19 carries in the win. The Vikings’ defense also showed up with five sacks on the afternoon. The Vikings take on the Green Bay Packers in week 4.
Speaking of the Packers, they got another solid performance out of Malik Willis in their 30-14 win over the Tennessee Titans. It was a revenge game for Willis who was traded from the Titans to the Packers on cutdown day. Willis threw for 202 yards and a touchdown and ran for 73 yards and a touchdown. The Green Bay defense was also really good with a pick-six and eight sacks in the game.
The Detroit Lions got a 20-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The Lions’ two-headed rushing attack of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs combined for 188 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Amon-Ra St. Brown led the receivers with seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. The Lions play the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football this week.
Caleb Williams threw for 383 yards but turned the ball over three times in the Chicago Bears 21-16 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Williams did have two touchdown passes. It has been a rocky start for the number one overall pick, to say the least. Rookie Rome Odunze had the best game of his young career catching six passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. Cole Kmet also chipped in 10 catches for 97 yards and a touchdown. The Bars host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
