Around the NFC North: Week 13
In one of the worst clock management decisions of all time, the Chicago Bears left a timeout in their pocket and lost 23-20 to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. The decision led to the firing of Bears head coach Matt Eberflus. Rookie Caleb Williams had a good game throwing for 256 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those touchdowns went to Keenan Allen who had five catches for 73 yards. DJ Moore also had eight catches for 97 yards. It was a struggle for the Bears on the ground who rushed for just 78 yards. For the victorious Lions, Jared Goff threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Both touchdowns went to tight end Sam LaPorta. The Lions gained 194 yards rushing with 88 of those coming from David Montgomery and 87 coming from Jahmyr Gibbs. The Bears travel to San Francisco to take on the 49ers in week 14. The Lions host the Packers on Thursday Night Football this week.
Speaking of the Packers, they won 30-17 over the Miami Dolphins on Thanksgiving night. Jordan Love threw for 274 yards and two touchdowns. Both of those touchdowns went to Jayden Reed. Tucker Kraft led the pass catchers with six catches for 78 yards. Josh Jacobs carried the ball 19 times for 43 yards and a touchdown. The Green Bay defense sacked Tua Tagovailoa five times and held the Dolphins to just 39 yards rushing.
The Minnesota Vikings won their fifth straight 23-22 over the Arizona Cardinals. Sam Darnold threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns. In a statistical anomaly, the Vikings had three players, Sam Darnold, Cam Akers, and Aaron Jones, all rush for 22 yards. Jones lost a fumble and was benched for a time before re-emerging to score the game-winning touchdown with 1:13 left. The Vikings will play the Atlanta Falcons in week 14.
