Around the AFC West: Week 8
Another week, another win for the Kansas City Chiefs. This week they beat the Las Vegas Raiders 27-20 to improve to 7-0 on the season. Travis Kelce had ten catches for 90 yards and a touchdown. Patrick Mahomes threw for 262 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Newly acquired receiver DeAndre Hopkins chipped in two catches for 29 yards. For the Raiders, Gardner Minshew threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns. Brock Bowers continued to lead the way for the Raiders with five catches for 58 yards. The Raiders could not get anything going on the ground ending the game with 21 carries for just 33 yards. The Chiefs play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football this week while the Raiders take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
The Denver Broncos got their second straight win 28-14 over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Bo Nix had his best passing game of the season throwing for 284 yards and three touchdowns. Cortland Sutton also had his best game of the season with eight catches for 100 yards. That connection is going to need to get going for the Broncos to sustain their early season success. Denver travels to Baltimore to take on the Ravens in week eight.
The Los Angeles Chargers dominated the New Orleans Saints 26-8. Rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey had a huge game with six catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Justin Herber threw for 279 and those two touchdowns. The Chargers also ran all over the Saints averaging 4.2 yards per carry on 29 carries. That is the way that Jim Harbaugh wants to win football games. The Chargers will play the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
