Around the AFC West: Week 5
Life is pretty easy when you have Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. The Kansas City Chiefs have suffered numerous injuries, but they just plug someone in and do not miss a beat. This week they won 26-13 over the New Orleans Saints. Kareem Hunt rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown. JuJu Smith-Schuster caught seven passes for 130 yards. Neither of those guys spent the preseason with the Chiefs. Mahomes threw for 331 yards and an interception. Kansas City has their bye in week six.
Somehow the Denver Broncos won their third straight over the Las Vegas Raiders 34-18. The Broncos’ defense has been really good this year, but the offense showed up on Sunday. Bo Nix threw for 206 yards and two touchdowns. Nix threw the ball to six different pass catchers in the win. For the Raiders, rookie tight end Brock Bowers looks like a star. He had eight catches for 97 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown was a 57-yard strike where Bowers “Mossed” a receiver and took it to the house. The Raiders might make a quarterback switch from Gardner Minshew to Aidan O’Connell before they play the Steelers on Sunday. The Broncos will go for their fourth straight win against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
The Chargers had their bye in week five.
