Around the AFC South: Week 9

The Houston Texans fell to 6-3 with their 21-13 loss to the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football. Joe Mixon had a big night for the Texans rushing for 106 yards and a touchdown. C.J. Stroud threw for 191 yards but did not throw a touchdown. Tank Dell had six catches for 126 yards. The Houston passing game is still not right without Nico Collins. The Texans will look to get back on track against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The switch to Joe Flacco did not lead to a win this week when the Indianapolis Colts lost 21-13 to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football. Flacco threw for just 179 yards with no touchdowns and an interception. Josh Downs continued to be Flacco’s favorite target. He caught six passes for 60 yards in the loss. The Colts’ run game really struggled. Jonathan Taylor gained 48 yards on 13 carries. The Colts take on the Buffalo Bills in week 10.

It took overtime, but the Tennessee Titans got their second win of the season 20-17 over the New England Patriots. Mason Rudolph started once again for the injured Will Levis and threw for 240 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Calvin Ridley led the way for the receivers with five catches for 73 yards. Tony Pollard had a huge game rushing 28 times for 128 yards. The Titans travel to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers on Sunday.

Trevor Lawrence threw no touchdowns and two interceptions as the Jacksonville Jaguars lost 28-23 to the Philadelphia Eagles. In addition to being inept in the passing game, the Jaguars rushing game really struggled. The running backs gained just 52 yards on 13 carries. Lawrence did add two rushing scores. Things do not get any easier for Jacksonville as they host the Vikings in week 10.
