Around the AFC South: Week 8
The Houston Texans improved to 6-2 with a 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. C.J. Stroud threw for 285 yards and a touchdown. Joe Mixon rushed for 102 yards with a touchdown of his own. Stefon Diggs had five catches for 81 yards before exiting the game with an injury. For the Colts, Anthony Richardson had a pretty rough day. He was 10 of 32 for 175 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also took himself out of the game at one point because he was tired. That is not a great look for a quarterback. He did make one really nice throw to Josh Downs who had four catches for 109 yards and a touchdown in the loss. The Texans play the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football this week. The Colts travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings on Sunday.
Trevor Lawrence threw for 308 yards with two touchdowns and one interception but it was not enough as the Jacksonville Jaguars lost 30-27 to the Green Bay Packers. The Jaguars also lost Brian Thomas Jr. and Christian Kirk, their two best receivers, to injury in the game. Thomas had three catches for 60 yards and another touchdown before his injury. The Jaguars take on the Philadelphia Eagles in week nine.
It was a third straight loss for the Tennessee Titans who fell 52-14 to the Detroit Lions. Special teams put the Titans in bad spots all day long. They gave up 190 return yards to Kalif Raymond on five punts. They also gave up a 72-yard kickoff return. Calvin Ridley had his best game as a Titan catching 10 passes for 143 yards but he did lose a fumble. Mason Rudolph got his second straight start for the injured Will Levis and threw for 266 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. The Titans will host the New England Patriots on Sunday.
