Around the AFC South: Week 2

It was a grind, but the Houston Texans improved to 2-0 on Sunday night with a 19-13 win over the Chicago Bears. C.J. Stroud has separated himself as the best quarterback in a division of young quarterbacks. He threw for 260 yards and a touchdown. Nico Collins had a huge night with eight catches for 135 yards and a touchdown. The Houston defense was all over Caleb Williams in this one sacking him seven times and forcing two interceptions. The Texans will look to improve to 3-0 on the road against the Minnesota Vikings in week three.

Anthony Richardson had a second rough game in a row in the Indianapolis Colts’ 16-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Richardson was 17 of 34 for 204 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. Indianapolis should look to lean more on Jonathan Taylor going forward. He had 103 yards on just 12 carries in the loss. The Colts’ lone touchdown in this one came on a Richardson pass to Alec Pierce who led the pass catchers with 56 yards. The Colts will take on the Bears next week.

Speaking of struggling quarterbacks, Will Levis had another back-breaking turnover in the Tennessee Titans’ 24-17 loss to the New York Jets.  Levis finished the day 19 of 28 yards for 192 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Tony Pollard was solid again for the Titans with 102 total yards of offense. Calving Ridley found the end zone twice in this one and ended the day 77 yards receiving. The Titans will host the Packers on Sunday.

Trevor Lawrence got paid this offseason. So far that contract is not paying off for the 0-2 Jacksonville Jaguars. They fell 18-13 to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Lawrence threw for 220 yards and no touchdowns in the loss. 66 of those yards came on one pass to Brian Thomas Jr. The Browns defense was able to eliminate Christian Kirk from this game. Kirk had just one catch for -1 yards. Things do not get any easier for Jacksonville as they take on the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football this week.
