Around the AFC South: Week 1
One of the more entertaining games of week one was the Houston Texans’ 29-27 win over the Indianapolis Colts. C.J. Stroud was really good in the win throwing for 234 yards and two touchdowns. Joe Mixon also had a great day rushing for 159 yards and a touchdown. On the Colts side of the ball, Anthony Richardson made one of the best throws of the week when he found Alec Pierce for a 60-yard touchdown. The ball traveled over 60 yards in the air on the throw. Richardson ended the day 9 of 19 for 212 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. The Texans take on the Chicago Bears in week two while the Colts face the Green Bay Packers.
The Tennessee Titans blew a 17-3 halftime lead in a 24-17 loss to the Bears. The Titans’ defense held the Chicago offense under 150 total yards and didn’t allow an offensive touchdown. The Bears scores came on a blocked punt returned for a touchdown and a pick six on a terrible decision from Will Levis. It was a tough day for Levis who finished with just 127 yards passing. The Titans host the New York Jets on Sunday.
Speaking of blown leads, the Jacksonville Jaguars blew a 17-7 halftime lead to lose to the Miami Dolphins 20-17. Tua Tagovailoa torched the Jacksonville defense for 338 yards through the air. Trevor Lawrence was only able to throw for 162 yards in the loss. The Jaguars backfield was led by second-year player Tank Bigsby who had 73 yards rushing on 12 carries. The Jaguars play the Cleveland Browns in week two.
