Around the AFC North: Week 17
The Baltimore Ravens ruined Christmas for the Houston Texans when they beat them 31-2 on Christmas Day. Derrick Henry had another massive day with 147 rushing yards and a touchdown. Lamar Jackson accounted for three touchdowns – two passing and one rushing in the win. Mark Andrews had just two catches but they went for 68 yards and a touchdown. The Ravens close out their season against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. A win would secure the AFC North title.
It was also a rough Christmas for the Pittsburgh Steelers who fell 29-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs. Russell Wilson threw for just 205 yards with no touchdowns and an interception. The Steelers did pile up 202 yards on the ground with Wilson scoring a rushing touchdown. Pittsburgh has a playoff spot secure, but can only host a playoff game if they win against the Cincinnati Bengals and the Ravens lose in week 18.
Speaking of the Bengals, they kept their faint playoff hopes alive with a 30-24 overtime win against the Denver Broncos. Joe Burrow was spectacular again throwing for 412 yards and three touchdowns. All three of those touchdowns went to Tee Higgins who had 11 catches for 131 yards. Ja’Marr Chase also had a big day with nine catches for 102 yards. The Bengals need a week 18 win and losses by the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins to make the playoffs.
The Cleveland Browns lost their fifth straight game 20-3 to the Dolphins on Sunday. Dorian Thompson-Robinson got a second straight start and threw for just 170 yards and an interception. Jerry Jeudy did manage to have a big day with 12 catches for 94 yards.
