Are Browns draft hopes already dead and Berry’d?

Browns general manager Andrew Berry held a press conference Wednesday. Many excellent, probing questions were asked by media members onsite. But it was the fanbase that spoke the loudest.

Cleveland fans are some of the best on Earth. There is support despite reiterative underachievement. There is hope despite continual disappointment. But with that type of loyalty comes a demand for answers.

And Browns fans aren’t shy about expressing their displeasure via whatever platform they have to do so. Seemingly every forum available — including the comments section of the streaming broadcast itself — was littered with entreaties for accountability and explanations of any cogent plan for the near future.

And Berry’s vacuous, empty rhetoric was as vacant and monotonous as the boundless pall of chagrin that falls over Northeast Ohio with such disheartening regularity we can almost set our clocks to it year after year.

Usually when it’s time to “fall behind” from daylight saving time, the Browns have already fallen behind in the standings enough to have stamped out any reasonable expectation of contention.

So will the team “spring ahead” in March when clocks go forward and the new league year begins? Not every season in recent memory has been a calamitous mess of misfortune and ineptitude. A bit of credit should be in the account for that.

AB’s front office has certainly been active in free agency and the trade market since he’s been at the big desk. Free agency is followed by the NFL draft in April.

We’ll take a look at what can be expected right now, right here.
