Amen Thompson Game Winner Lifts Rockets Past Celtics
Much like many nights have been for the Houston Rockets this season, Monday night was Amen Thompsonās night.
With just 0.7 seconds remaining on the clock, Thompson drove in and stopped before sinking a floater to clinch a 114-112 win over the Boston Celtics.
After the game, Thompson said āOh, that was my first game-winner, I feel like Kobeā during an on-court interview.
Thompsonās final two points capped off a career-high 33-point night, including 9 rebounds, 4 assists with a steal, and a block to go with it.
Despite Thompsonās career night, it was Dillion Brooks who led the way for the Rockets finishing with a career-high 10 three-pointers en route to 36 points.
Alperen Sengun finished one rebound and one assist away from a triple-double after scoring 11 points.
The backcourt duo of Fred VanVleet and Jalen Green were held relativity quiet finishing with just 7 and 12 points respectively.
Houston got just 15 bench points as leading scorer from the second unit Cam Whitmore did not play due to the same illness that kept him out of the second half in the Rockets’ win over Cleveland on Saturday.
The win marks the Rockets’ third straight victory all coming against the top two teams in the Eastern Conference.
The Rockets will be back in action tonight as they take on the Atlanta Hawks on the second night of a back-to-back.
