Amari Cooper is Now A Buffalo Bill

After a hectic nail biting Monday Night football match-up against The New York Jets the Bills fans were hoping for some calmness and rest on Tuesday afternoon but they did not get it. As right after their 23-20 road win they went to the wide receiver market and made a big time move. That move was to get 5 time Pro-Bowl wide receiver standout Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns. This move was much needed Buffalo as wide receiver Keon Coleman is still a rookie in the NFL and Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins are no where near their advertised hype. This is not what Bills fans want for Josh Allen as it leaves Khalil Shakir as the number one receiver target, which became a problem as he came down with an ankle injury in week 4. This is not what the Bills needed as they were play 2 tough teams in The Ravens and Texans and Allen had to rely on Coleman, Samuel, and Hollins. In the Ravens game the Bills offence only came up with 10 points and even though the offence did take the right step towards improvement against the Texans they still ended up losing by a game-winning field goal.

This is why the Bills faithful were desperately in need of a big time receiver who a team was willing to trade and after seeing their Monday opponent the New York Jets make a move as they snagged Aaron Rodgers former teammate Davante Adams, The Bills knew it was time to make their mark. The guy Buffalo went after was Amari Cooper who many football fans know of when he was playing on the Dallas Cowboys and for his play recently on the Cleveland Browns. The 4th overall pick in 2015 has been consistent in his NFL career constantly putting up great yardage as a 3rd or second string guy but as he comes to the Bills he will be the number 1 receiving option and with his addition the Bills look even more scarier than before.

With the win against the Jets, The Dolphins still without a quarterback and the Patriots at their lowest. The Bills are definitely now the favorites to win the division if they were not before. However with every big time grab comes something the team has to give up and what the Bills had to give up to get their guy was a 3 round pick in 2025 and a 7th in 2026. In return the Bills got Cooper and a 6th in 2025, which is a decent deal for the Bills front offence only giving away a 3rd to get a receiver that a lot of teams had their eyes on.

With The Bills improving to 4-2 and being on the bad side of the injury list Buffalo definitely needed to get a guy like this as football is unpredictable and who knows if their division opponents make a comeback surge and overtake them. By adding Cooper it gives them more stability, depth and it gives Josh Allen a number 1 go-to target who instantly makes the Bills stronger on offence. As now defenders would be focusing more on Cooper as a number 1 which would take away eyes from Shakir and possibly give more options to Coleman as a third. Ultimately, what Bills fans hope can happen from this trade is that Cooper could fit right in to Buffalo and have a good rest of his career, continuing to dominate. The dream is for him to end up being what Diggs was for the Bills  maybe even better, but maybe that’s getting too far. We will potentially see Cooper in a Bills jersey Sunday October 20th at 1:00pm as The Bills play the Tennessee Titans at home in Buffalo.
