AEW Celebrates Five Years of Dynamite with New TV Deal
Tony Khan called it “the greatest day in AEW history.”
Last night, All Elite Wrestling celebrated the fifth anniversary of its flagship TV show, Dynamite, in Pittsburgh.
But the best news was the announcement of AEW’s new TV rights deal. Dynamite and Collision will stay on TBS and TNT, respectively, and they will be streamed for MAX subscribers next year.
This means that professional wrestling is in great shape. WWE and AEW are making lots of money and entertaining fans around the world.
TITLE VS. TITLE
Bryan Danielson retained the AEW World title with a victory over Kazuchika Okada in a battle of two of the greatest wrestlers of all time.
Okada’s Continental title was on the line for the first 20 minutes. After the 31-minute mark, Danielson won with a backslide to give Okada the first loss of his AEW career.
The International title was on the line in the opener, as champion Will Ospreay and Ricochet battled to a double-pin draw.
Tony Khan restarted the match, but it stopped again after Konosuke Takeshita attacked both wrestlers and held up the title belt.
WELCOME TO BRITTSBURGH
Dr. Britt Baker thrilled her hometown fans with a victory over Serena Deeb. Queen Aminata saved Pittsburgh’s favorite dentist from a post-match attack by Deeb.
Hangman Adam Page defeated Juice Robinson and tried to live up to his name by hanging him. However, “Switchblade” Jay White returned from injury to make the save.
Private Party beat the Iron Savages and issued a challenge to The Young Bucks for the AEW tag team title.
Shelton Benjamin made his AEW debut after a two-decade career in WWE. The former Intercontinental champion aligned himself with MVP, who was also in WWE for many years.
Dynamite will air on Tuesday next week. Wheeler Yuta will team with Danielson against his own Trios championship partners, Claudio Castagnoli and PAC.
