7 players miss the Steelers first practice of Week 11 on Wednesday

The Pittsburgh Steelers are moving along through the 2024 NFL season and are back at home for their first AFC North matchup of the season as they host the Baltimore Ravens. As the Steelers took the practice field for their first day with a required injury report in preparation for the Ravens, there were seven players who did not participate while none were limited. In the first injury report of the week courtesy of the Steelers PR Department, eight names appear on the list.

Pittsburgh Steelers Participation/Injury Report, Week 11

Wednesday, November 13

No. 11 WR Van Jefferson (Quadricep) – DNP
No. 22 RB Najee Harris (Ankle) – DNP
No. 26 CB Donte Jackson (Hamstring) – DNP
No. 51 LB Nick Herbig (Hamstring) – Full
No. 56 LB Alex Highsmith (Ankle) – DNP
No. 73 OL Isaac Seumalo (NIR – Resting Vet) – DNP
No. 81 TE MyCole Pruitt (Knee) – DNP
No. 9 DT Cameron Heyward (NIR – Resting Vet) – DNP

One player who has already been ruled out for this week according to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin in his press conference on Tuesday is outside linebacker Alex Highsmith. Suffering a gruesome-looking twisted ankle against the Commanders, Highsmith’s prognosis is pretty good as he is considered week to week. As expected, he did not practice on Wednesday.

One player who missed the Steelers Week 10 game due to injury is outside linebacker Nick Herbig who is dealing with a hamstring injury. On the cusp of being able to play last week, Herbig will likely push the envelope a little bit more this week with the loss of Alex Highsmith. On Wednesday, Herbig was able to practice as a full participant.

There were other players who were dealing with ailments who head coach Mike Tomlin said could potentially miss time early in the week. Running back Najee Harris is dealing with an ankle injury and did not practice on Wednesday. Additionally, Donte Jackson is dealing with a hamstring injury and missed the end of last Sunday’s game. On Wednesday, Jackson did not participate.

Two other players who landed on the Steelers injury report that were not previously known were wide receiver Van Jefferson with a quadriceps and tight end MyCole Pruitt with a knee injury. Pruitt has missed time on and off with his knee injury since returning to the Steelers lineup in Week 7, but has not landed on the final injury report each week. On Wednesday, Pruitt was not able to practice. As for Van Jefferson, he did not participate in Wednesday’s practice and his status for the rest of the week will be closely monitored.

The final two players on Wednesday’s injury report were both given the day off due to rest. Both defensive tackle Cam Heyward and guard Isaac Seumalo were given the day off on Wednesday, something that has been quite common throughout this season.
