5 QB Options For New York Giants In 2025
The New York Giants have officially made the move from Daniel Jones.
It was announced Monday that the team would turn to Tommy DeVito as the starting quarterback. Brian Daboll and the front office surpassed backup quarterback Drew Lock and decided to go for the third stringer with experienced in a Giants’ uniform.
With Jones out of the picture, this begs the question of who will be the starting quarterback for the Giants next season. Check out five options below.
2025 QB Options For Giants
5. Tommy DeVito
DeVito is still in the mix. He is already on the roster and has six starts under his belt. By the end of this season, if all goes right, that number could be up to 14. He has shown that he can handle New York, being a local kid, and already has a gimmick that keeps fans interested. Regardless of the reason he was given another chance, if DeVito plays well, maybe the Giants opt to give him one more year.
4. Justin Fields
Fields should have been an option for the Giants in the offseason but they decided to let him go elsewhere. The Chicago Bears got a sixth-round pick for Fields. This would have been well worth it for the Giants to give him a shot. Now, he will be a free agent after the season and will come with a significant discount due to his inconsistencies. Daboll has been pegged as a quarterback developer and Fields could use this type of coach.
3. Sam Darnold
This would drive Jets fans nuts if Darnold was able to go across town and find success. This season, it has been a roller coaster for Darnold. He has helped the Vikings start 7-2 but currently leads the NFL in turnovers. Darnold has benefitted from a strong receiving core, led by Justin Jefferson, and an elite defense. In New York, the Giants have a strong front seven and an emerging weapon in Malik Nabers.
2. Shedeur Sanders
There are rumors that Shedeur Sanders might be a package deal with Deion Sanders. Now, Daboll will likely be back next season and this means Sanders would not become the head coach. Regardless, Sanders in New York would be a media spectacle. He has three years of starting experience at the collegiate level. Sanders has shown that he has a live arm and is one of the top prospects in this year’s draft.
1. Cam Ward
Perhaps the best quarterback prospect in this year’s draft, Cam Ward has been one of the most dynamic players in college football for years now. Flip flop Sanders and Ward however you like in this top spot but they seem like the two most NFL-ready. Now, this is not a strong class on paper. There is no Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye coming out this season.
The Giants could even look to wait in later rounds for a QB like Carson Beck or Jalen Milroe. These are more developmental options that would require a veteran starter in the short-term. If the Giants are attempting to find the quick fix, Ward could be at the top of the list.
