4 Candidates To Be New York Jets Head Coach Next Season
The New York Jets continue to be one of the laughingstocks of the NFL this season.
A team with Super Bowl aspirations coming in has crashed and burned earlier than possible. A 31-6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals dropped the Jets to 3-7 this season with no hope of turning it around and making the postseason.
Typically, this would be the time that we begin discussing if the head coach is on the hot seat. Ownership in New York took care of that already, firing Robert Saleh after just four games.
The grass is not always greener and the Jets are seeing that. With that being said, this same inept ownership group will have to find a new head coach this offseason.
Below, check out four candidates that could be linked to the Jets.
4. Deion Sanders
Is Deion Sanders eventually going to get a head coaching job in the NFL? When will he want to make the jump? There is a number of questions surrounding this topic but it seems like a classic Jets move. Can’t you already see Prime coming to New York and completing crashing? It does have to be said that Colorado looks far better than it did last season. The Jets will also be picking near the top of the draft it seems. Could they bring in Shedeur Sanders to persuade Deion?
3. Aaron Glenn
The hot candidate over the last two years has been Ben Johnson. He passed up on jobs last offseason and it is unknown when, and if, he will want to take a job. Johnson is not the only hot name coming out of Detroit. Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn also took some interviews last year but decided to stay with the Lions and pursue the ultimate goal. Glenn has helped the Lions build a winner on the defensive side of the ball. He is a hard-nose leader that can help turn a franchise around. This is what the Jets need.
2. Bobby Slowik
Another narrative the Jets need could be where the league is going. This is a young, offensive-minded head coach. If there is a new quarterback in town next year, Slowik is a strong name because of his experience developing CJ Stroud. If it is Rodgers, this duo could help turn things around. As bad as the Jets have been, it is partly because of the coaching situation. Now, many fans do not want a first-time head coach again but if they bring one in, Slowik should be at the top of the list.
1. Mike Vrabel
It is a bit of a surprise that Vrabel did not get a head-coaching job last year. He was thought to be one of the top candidates but teams decided to go in a different direction. Does this say something about Vrabel moving forward? He took a position on staff with the Cleveland Browns this year. He will take more interviews this offseason and the Jets could be all in to bring in an experienced option to turn things around.
