3 Trade Partners For Cleveland Cavaliers For Donovan Mitchell
There could be a house-cleaning this offseason for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
After another early exit in the postseason, the Cavs let go of head coach J.B. Bickerstaff. There has been talks of moving Donovan Mitchell this offseason as well. If this is the case, there will be many trade partners interested in adding the All-Star point guard.
Below, take a look at three major trade destinations for Mitchell.
3. Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic got a first-hand look at Mitchell during the postseason. The Cavs won a game seven in the first round to eliminate the upstart Magic this season. It was an incredible regular season for a young Magic squad that could be looking for that one final piece to take them over the edge.
It begins with Paolo Banchero, who proved he is one of the up-and-coming stars in the league. Orlando has set itself up for success for years to come in the draft. Now, it could be time to make that one trade that could take the team over the edge. Mitchell would fit into that category and the fit would be perfect in the backcourt.
2. Los Angeles Lakers
This would not be the first time that the Los Angeles Lakers, and LeBron James, searches for that next star to add to the roster. After a trip to the Western Conference Finals last season, the Lakers went quietly in the first round this year. With James and Anthony Davis on the roster, this is unacceptable for the Lakers.
It is unknown how long James will be in Los Angeles but for now, he is on the roster and searching for the next championship. The return would like begin with Austin Reaves and potentially throw in D’Angelo Russell as well, who struggled in the postseason. This would create the next big three in Los Angeles that could compete for a title in the Western Conference.
1. Brooklyn Nets
Mitchell has been linked to the state of New York and the thought has been the Knicks. After watching the Knicks steam out in the postseason, it seems like the fit would not be smooth. This leaves the Brooklyn Nets as an option, giving Mitchell a chance to play in New York.
Of course, the Nets put together a group of stars that failed in recent years. This led to Brooklyn falling into mediocrity. Mikal Bridges is the star in Brooklyn and could use a second in command. If this deal can get done, the Nets would not become a championship contender but it becomes a team that can compete for a postseason spot with a few more additions.
