3 Teams That Should Pursue Daniel Jones This Season

The relationship between Daniel Jones and the New York Giants is officially over.

On Friday, it was announced that Jones asked for his release from the team and the Giants granted his wishes. The six-year commitment ended after Jones was benched in favor of Tommy DeVito. Drew Lock remained the backup and the Giants went as far as to sign Tim Boyle to the practice squad.

Jones was never going to play another snap for the Giants and this move benefits both sides. Now, Jones can look for his next home.

Jones will be put on waivers and if he clear, he is free to sign with any team in the league. Who should take a flier on the veteran quarterback?

3. Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have been an absolute mess at the quarterback position in recent years. Bryce Young has looked better since his benching but it is still unknown if Carolina views him as the franchise option. If the Panthers do not want to draft a quarterback, who not bring in Jones for the remain of this season and even next? Jones would immediately become the best quarterback the Panthers have had in at least four years.

2. Cleveland Browns

The Browns, like Carolina, are a mess under center. The Deshaun Watson contract is looking like the worst in NFL history. The team has turned to Jameis Winston, who is acting like the bridge into the offseason. Similar to Carolina, if the Browns have a way out of the Watson contract, why not take a chance on Jones next season?

1. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys have a chance to do the only thing that could make a Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Giants watchable. Right now, we are slated to watch Tommy DeVito vs. Cooper Rush in a nationally-televised, holiday matchup. This sounds like worst-case scenario. Enter Daniel Jones against his former team and the intrigue is back.

Now, that would not be the only reason to bring in Jones. Dak Prescott will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn hamstring. He can have the chance to play out the remainder of the season and even be the backup for the future. Prescott has missed time in recent years and it is time for the Cowboys to end the charade of Cooper Rush. Jones can be a solid, reliable backup quarterback for years to come in Dallas.
