3 Takeaways From The Texans Halloween Loss To The Jets

Halloween often brings scares to many across the county but no one had a more scary night than the Houston Texans did on Thursday.

Houston fell to 6-3 thanks to a 21-13 loss in a game in which the Texans were certainly expecting to win.

More troublesome trends continued for the Texans as everything that had been going wrong the last few weeks continued to go south on Thursday Night Football.

Like always, there were plenty of takeaways from this one, so let’s break down three of them for the Texans.

1 The Offensive Line continues to cost Houston wins

In order to sum up the offensive line play on Thursday night, you only really need one important stat.

CJ Stound was sacked a career-high eight times while Houston scored just 13 points.

The Texans are averaging just 14 points a game offensively and much of that is because of the constant pressure on Stroud.

Laremy Tunsil and Kenyon Green both left the game for periods of time with Green never returning.

Houston will have to get their play up front clean if they want any chance of competing in the AFC.

2 The Injuries keep on coming

When it rains, it pours and the Texans know that to be true with their injuries continuing to pile up.

In addition to Tunsil and Green, star defensive end Will Anderson left the game with an ankle injury.

Houston is already without Stefon Diggs for the season and was missing Nico Collins, Azeez Al Shaair, and Jimmie Ward.

Fortunately for the Texans, they have a “mini bye” before their Sunday night showdown with the 6-1 Detroit Lions.

3 Tank Dell can step up when needed

After having a bit of a sophomore slump this season, Tank Dell was WR1 as the Texans were missing both Diggs and Collins.

Dell proved that he could step up when needed as he had six catches for 126 yards in Houston’s loss.

Easily flying past his season high of 62 yards, Dell had his most effective game of the season.

Houston hopes Dell can keep this level of play up as Nico Collins could return for the Texans game against the Lions next Sunday night.
