3 Potential Suitors To Trade For Justin Fields
The Chicago Bears have a decision to make this offseason. That is whether to trade former first-round pick Justin Fields.
As the days go on, it seems likely that the Bears will find a trade partner and use the first-overall pick on Caleb Williams. Fields has spent the first three years of his career in Chicago and is entering the final year of his rookie contract. The problem is, he might demand a contract that teams would not want to give.
Some teams will be in need of a quarterback and some will avoid this situation for many reasons. Below, there are three teams that could consider making this move.
3. Washington Commanders
The Commanders hold many options heading into the 2024 NFL Draft. They could stay at No. 2 and select a quarterback, trade up for Williams, move back in the order, or even make a deal for Fields.
It is almost certain that Washington will not be looking into Fields. We present the argument because it would make things interesting. Say Washington acquired Fields. This would allow the Commanders to get a haul for the second pick from a team looking to move up. If no one moved up, the Commanders could draft Marvin Harrison Jr. to pair with Terry McLaurin.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers have been linked to Fields for weeks now since rumors swirled about the front office not being sold on Kenny Pickett. Pittsburgh is in the market for a new starter this offseason.
Right now, the Steelers are looking at either Pickett or Mason Rudolph under center next season. If the team is interested in returning to the postseason, it will need to improve this position. Russell Wilson is another intriguing name for the Steelers.
1. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are currently the betting leaders to land Fields. Atlanta gave Desmond Ridder a chance last season and had Taylor Heinicke as the backup when he was forced to miss time.
The Falcons brought in Raheem Morris to be the new head coach. They have made it known that the quarterback position is the one that will be prioritized. The Falcons have the potential to be a strong offense with pieces like Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts. That is, of course, if the correct quarterback is added this offseason.
