3 Potential Fits As New Orleans Saints Head Coach

The New Orleans Saints are the final team to hire a head coach this offseason.

All other jobs have been filled and the list is running low for New Orleans as well. The Saints have heard from many options, eliminating themselves from the running. This includes Kliff Kingsbury and Mike McCarthy.

There are still viable options that can run the Saints next year. Check out three options that could be hired as head coach in New Orleans soon enough.

3. Anthony Weaver

There are many coordinators that have been sought after for years now but have been passed up. Anthony Weaver is on that short list. The defensive coordinator in Miami has plenty of ties around the league with many former players saying great things about him. Weaver has been a great leader during his time as a coordinator and could be a strong candidate to lead a franchise moving forward.

2. Darren Rizzi

We have seen interim head coaches get the chance to lead the team and it has not worked out well. While this is often a marriage that does not last after the original season, many plays in New Orleans have lobbied for Rizzi, such as Alvin Kamar and Cam Jordan. We saw the same thing happen in Las Vegas with Antonio Pierce and we saw how that ended. That does not mean Rizzi will have the same fate. He helped lead the Saints to wins down the stretch of the season after all hope had been lost. This was an injury-riddled team that fell behind in the NFC. Rizzi righted the ship and showed great leadership. He is already in the building and knows how things work. The Saints could just do the easy thing and make him the head coach moving forward.

1. Kellen Moore

Kellen Moore has been a hot name on the coaching market for years now but many believe he has not been ready. This has led to the offensive coordinator job in Philadelphia. As he prepares for the Super Bowl, he remains a major target for the Saints. While he has focused on the big game, Moore could also be preparing to leave the Eagles after one year. The Saints could benefit from a coach that has seen a successful team and helped lead the offense to the final game of the season.
