3 Midseason Trade Targets For Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies came into 2024 red hot and have not slowed down as the calendar turned to June.

The Phillies are currently 46-20 and hold a 10-game lead in the NL East. They have the best record in the National League and are considered contenders to return to the NLCS and beyond. This is a spot that the Phillies have been in each of the last two years, neither season ended in a World Series title.

This year, Philadelphia can look to make another midseason move to add another bat to the lineup or arm in the bullpen. If Philly looks for a bat, these three players could be intriguing options.

3. Michael Conforto

Conforto could be an interesting target for the Phillies. He has spent the last two years with the San Francisco Giants and could be a trade piece at the deadline. The 31-year-old is not a game-changing bat for the Phillies but could provide some left-handed depth in the outfield. Conforto is batting .241 this year with eight home runs. He has the ability to step in if there is an injury and deliver some power. This deal is not a big splash and could be paired with another trade, if the front office wants to be aggressive.

2. Tyler O’Neill

O’Neill has missed some time with a knee injury but is hoping to return this week. The right-hander started out quick in his first season with the Boston Red Sox. As the front office looks to retool for the future, it could be looking to send away contracts like O’Neill. This is where the Phillies come into play to land a bat that can provide plenty of power. He has 11 home runs this season and an OBP of .354. At 29 years old, O’Neill is an interesting option for a team looking to make a run deep in the postseason.

1. Luis Robert Jr.

Robert Jr. has been one of the hot names at the trade deadline. The Chicago White Sox current have the worst record in baseball and can be sellers at the deadline. Robert Jr. was placed on the injured list in April with a right hip flexor strain but returned last week. He has hit five home runs right away and is showing power during his auditions for other teams. This has been a player linked to the Phillies all week and could be the No. 1 target to get more power in the lineup.
