2024 PAC-12 Football Season Preview
The PAC-12 conference is all but gone in college football.
There has been expansion across all power conferences and teams out West began moving elsewhere, such as the Big Ten and ACC. There are just two teams remaining in the PAC-12 for the upcoming season and they will play a schedule full of Mountain West teams.
Oregon State
The win total for the Beavers is set at 7.5. Last season, Oregon State took a major step forward and was looking like a power out West. This added an intrigue to the final year of a full PAC-12 but it will be interesting to see how the team performs with key losses.
It begins with DJ Uiagalelei, who transferred to Florida State. This left a quarterback battle for Oregon State. Ben Gulbranson is the likely candidate as he has been with the program since 2020. With highly-touted quarterback Aidan Chiles also hitting the portal, the Beavers wanted to add competition. Missouri transfer Gabarri Johnson chose Oregon State as did Gevani McCoy, who threw 41 touchdowns over the last two seasons at Idaho.
Damien Martinez is another big loss for the offense. The 1,000-yard rusher left for Miami but the Beavers brought Jam Griffin of Ole Miss. The offensive line will also be much improved this season.
Trent Bray has taken over as head coach at Oregon State and it will be a difficult transition given the state of the conference.
Washington State
The win total for Washington State is also set at 7.5. Like Oregon State, there was a massive overhaul for the Cougars and they were hit hard.
Cam Ward has been one of the most electric players in the nation over the last two years. He hit the portal and landed in Miami. This is a position that is a major question mark now. Sophomore John Mateer has just 19 career attempts while Bryant transfer Zevi Eckhaus will also battle for the job. This is not an established group fighting for the job under center.
Head coach Jake Dickert has a long way to go to rebuild Washington State into a perennial powerhouse in the new-look PAC-12.
