Conference Notes

Kaidon Salter is back and that means good things for the Flames. He was the Conference USA Player of the Year after showing off his ability as a dual-threat. Salter is poised for another massive year for an offense that led the nation in rushing at 293.3 yards per game. Salter totaled 1,089 yards on the ground while Quinton Cooley led the way with 1,401 yards. The two combined to score 28 touchdowns. Liberty is a threat to make the CFB Playoff with the field expanding to 12 teams this season.

Jacksonville State to build off success in the FBS. It became the first team in history to win a bowl game in its inaugural FBS season. Jacksonville State finished 9-4 during the season, including a win in the New Orleans Bowl. Now, the team looks like a threat to compete in the Conference USA Championship Game.

Western Kentucky continues to find postseason success. For those who say bowl season doesn’t matter, don’t say that to the Hilltoppers. They have won three consecutive bowl games and could be in line for another in 2024. Western Kentucky was picked to face Liberty in the Conference USA title game this season. There will be a strong duo fighting for a spot under center and four starters returning along the offensive line. Sights are high for the Hilltoppers.
